Why “Multiple Streams of Income” Is a Myth #156

If you’ve spent any time online, you’ve likely heard the stupidest advice on the internet:

“You need multiple streams of income.”

Do a mastermind.

And also launch a retreat.

And write a book.

And create a course.

And sell a product line.

That advice is garbage.

I’ve worked personally with five billionaires, and not one of them got rich from juggling multiple streams of income.

They got rich by going all in on one thing.

It’s called the power of focus and I want to show you how it works in your business.

The Power of Focus to Grow Your Brand

Years ago, in my first book Take the Stairs, I wrote: “When you have diluted focus, you get diluted results.”

When Lewis Howes first came to me, he had 17 revenue streams.

He was proud of it.

But I asked him: “What would happen if you shut them all down and went all in on one thing?”

To his credit, Lewis listened.

He shut down millions in revenue overnight to focus only on his podcast.

Within two years, his downloads skyrocketed from 30 million to 500 million.

Why?

Because he focused.

Pick your wall, grab the sledgehammer, and hit the same spot again and again until you break through.

Find Your Uniqueness and Exploit It in the Service of Others

The best piece of personal branding advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor Larry Winget.

He said:

“Find your uniqueness and exploit it in the service of others.”

That’s the game.

Brené Brown owns the topic of shame.

Dave Ramsey owns debt-free living.

James Clear owns habits.

Tony Robbins owns overcoming pain.

They didn’t get there by chasing every opportunity, they got there by narrowing in on the ONE problem they were born to solve.

The One Question That Matters

If you want to build an influential personal brand, you have to answer one question using ONLY one word:

What problem do you solve?

People pay for solutions to their problems.

If your kid gets sick or your car breaks down, you find the money.

Your brand has to position itself as the solution to a problem people can’t afford to ignore.

At Brand Builders Group, we solve one problem: obscurity.

That’s it.

We help people go from unknown to unforgettable.

And once you own that clarity, everything changes.

So how do you figure out what your uniqueness, your One Word, should be?

It’s simpler than you think.

You Are Most Powerfully Positioned to Serve the Person You Once Were

You are most powerfully positioned to serve the person you once were.

Think about it.

Your greatest credibility comes from the challenges you’ve already overcome.

Your mess becomes your message.

Your past pain becomes your present platform.

That’s the fast track.

Serve the person you used to be, and you’ll never run out of people to help.

If you’d like help clarifying your uniqueness and focusing your efforts so you can grow your influence, my team at Brand Builders Group can help.

Schedule a free brand call today and let’s get you out of obscurity.
